Sam Kerr, the creator and founder of Niseko Xtreme Tours tragically passed away in an avalanche incident while out freeriding with his peers. The team here at Niseko Xtreme Tours want to continue on his legacy, providing safe fun tours, whilst showing our guests all that Hokkaido has to offer.
Tom Melville; Head Guide
Tom is from New Zealand and has been snowboarding for the last 20 years after switching from his childhood passion of skiing. As well as countless seasons in NZ Tom has spent 10 winters in Hokkaido, the first 2 way back in 2001 and 2002. In between those first 2 winters here in Niseko he spent 5 winters in Austria as well as winters in South America and a visit to the Himalayas to shred. Tom loves exploring the backcountry on his splitboard and snowmobile but is more than stoked to smash the resorts when conditions are on. Tom is also a wealth of useful and interesting information on the local area and will no doubt tell you a few of his facts on a chairlift or a hike and definitely point you in the right direction of the local soup curry shop or watering hole.

Yuka Kerr; Operations Manager
Yuka is hands down the heart of the company. After traveling to various countries around the globe experiencing other cultures and lifestyles, Yuka has chosen her homeland of the northern island of Hokkaido, Japan to settle down. Being a Hokkaido local Yuka knows all there is to know about the cultural aspects and magic that embodies Japan.
The Freeski-Crew.com is a freeski movie production based in Innsbruck/Austria. Last season we planned a trip to Hokkaido to enjoy the worlds’ most famous powder. At Sopporo airport we met up with our guide Sam Kerr from Niseko Xtreme Tours. A piece of luck for us, because without speaking Japanese it is really hard for foreigners to explore the resorts outside the touristic centers like Niseko. Sam showed us the beautiful Japanese landscape and culture as well as the most snowy places in central Hokkaido. It was a real pleasure to shoot the driest powder we’ve ever seen in Asahidake. Without a guide like Sam it’s nearly impossible – also in Niseko – to find the best places to film for our upcoming movie. Hokkaido is an awesome place to ski, and yes it’s true, this island has the best powder in the world. Thanks Sam and Niseko Xtreme Tours to make a dream come true!

Hokkaido is our j-pow graceland, and Niseko Xtreme Tours are the ultimate tour company. We were taken to the best unshredded spots on the mountains. Our trips to Rusutsu were the some of the best boarding we have experienced. Without Sam’s knowledge it would have been just a great day at a primo resort field, but the lines he took us on were dreamtime!
Nev Lapwood from SnowboardAddiction.com
Niseko Xtreme Tours are the Shiz! Sam, the owner has been shredding the Hokkaido area for longer than you’ve been snowboarding. He knows all the best spots, and where to get the fluffy white stuff. Without a good guide you’ll end up shredding runs with lots of Punters
Christian Stevenson from brokenscene.com
That was the best run of my life. Thanks to the team at NXT I have a greater desire to do more RAD backcountry missions like this
